A fourth generation educator, sade has dedicated much of their adult life in schools, thinking about the importance of play, inclusivity in schools, and supporting young children. Prior to joining the staff at the Philadelphia Free School, sade taught in Montessori schools for 15 years in Brooklyn, NY and Seattle, WA, and they have a BA in Child Development and a MS in Early Childhood Special Education. sade is thankful to work at a democratic school that centers freedom, and believes that an ideal and just education is one committed to furthering human potentials while fostering dynamic and compassionate community.
When not at the Philadelphia Free School, sade can be found volunteering with climate justice organizations, getting their hands dirty in community gardens, working on a needlepoint project, or hanging at home with their family. They enjoy watching movies, collecting tattoos, bike rides, and reading comics. sade wants to learn more about restorative and transformative justice practices, ecology and conservation of wild places, food and water sovereignty, and sustainable urban planning.
